Pitsford Water Week Ending 21st April 2024

Rod Average - 10.0

Despite the big northerly winds we have been experiencing, Pitsford has had a good week.  With a rod average for the week of 10.

Anglers have been looking to tuck themselves out of the wind and fortunately there are a lot of fish holding station along the north shore.  This has meant that anglers have been able to catch in the calmer waters and allowed them to use buzzer / washing line tactics.

The best areas have been the Duffers, bog bay, the Cliffs, Brixworth bay and Sailing club bank. All of these are along the north.  There may very well be fish holding along the south, however due to the winds this bank has been largely underfished over the past week.

Although some reports earlier on in the week talked about fish holding a bit deeper, the past few days have seen many reports of fish being caught on Washing Line tactics with full floaters or tips lines, with fish relatively high in the water.  The bung has also been mentioned.

Over the past week Pitsford were delighted to host The England Youth, Alex Booth fly fishers and Mid Northants Trout fishers association.  With Alex Booth FF fishing to a rod average of 6.9 and Mid Northants fishing to a rod average of 12.  Mid Northants reported a lot of fish caught in Brixworth bay on Buzzers and Fabs.

Pitsford remains very full, so please take extra care when passing through the tunnel.
