Rod Average - 6.0

Rutland is continuing to fish very well, with So many reports/comments coming back to the Rangers, ss brilliant, superb, excellent, one angler described his day (Sunday)"As the best that he has ever had!  Various methods are working, with Dry fly and nymph by far the favourite method with so many fish reported moving "In & On" the surface, with size of flies right down to 16s &18s being used by some. Type of flies used for these fish are, Hares ear, Ghimp's c.d.c.'s Black buzzer. Plus, Nymphs working are, Hares ear, black buzzer, Diawl back, Cruncher, etc fished on floating , midge tip lines.

Anglers using various sinking lines have been scoring on Nymph/ lure Combinations, lures being, Boobies, blobs, cormorants etc, with one or two  using Humongous on "Boobie" basher lines coming in contact with big over wintered Browns.   Regarding Browns the biggest recorded last week was a stunning 14-8 specimen albeit caught by a Pike fly angler on Wednesday.  Another report was because the water clarity is superb, anglers along the Normanton bank with the sun behind them were able to witness small groups of big browns grubbing along the stones feeding on shrimp. Best areas to try? , well, most areas are producing fish from the top of either arms, along the peninsula and both of the respective banks in the main basin, i.e. Sykes lane, Normanton.

Boat league starts a week today, 14th meet around 5.00pm onwards (Facebook post to follow).

Finally a reminder of some rules at Rutland.
We've welcomed a lot of new anglers at Rutland recently and some have been unaware of some basic rules - so before you visit us please be aware of the following:
*Anchoring in the main basin is prohibited*
On the south shore your markers are no anchoring from the Church to the dam, on the north shore your markers are no anchoring from Ernie's point to the Dam. This means no anchoring whilst fishing the Normanton bank on the south, or Stockie bay / Monument on the north bank etc.

*Boats to keep 50m from the nature reserve*
There is a nature reserve at the very top of the South arm (where the birdwatching centre is). There is also no bank fishing in this area. Boats must keep 50m off this bit of bank at all times.

*Life jackets to be worn at all times*
Life jackets need to be worn at all times, including on the pontoon. This week we have had a few anglers stepping onto the pontoon with no life jacket on.

*Leave boats tidy*
Out of courtesy we ask for those anglers using an anchor to do their best to remove weed and silt from the anchor before bringing it into the boat and for all anglers to clean up after themselves, such as take discarded Nylon with them etc. With 60 boats to clean each day we would be very grateful
For a full list of rules, contact the lodge or visit the website

*Please give bank anglers 50m*
When boat fishing please always keep 50m from bank anglers
